Perhaps the first sign of culture shock?

Naw, just the first sign of mental illness that I'm even posting this publicly. But it makes me laugh so what the hell.

The Komaba Festival!

Well it's that time of year, the time for school festival's! And Toudai is no exception, nor was it particularly exceptional.

All in all it was pretty underwhelming, what with the 1000 food stalls that sold a total of 4 different types of food (yakitori, yakisoba, takoyaki, and gyoza).

Saw a few cool performances, though. Check out these highlights!

Food booths:

By far the most creative food product I saw: Omelete wrapped hot dog.

But the selling point was their advertising sign:

Yes, that is Moses parting the red sea with a hot dog on a stick.

Pretentious Juggling!

More pretentious juggling!

My hopes are DASHED!

An a capella group signs "He is the Prince of Tennis" from the musical of the similar name, extracting lots of laughs from primarily the females in the audience.

More "Prince of Tennis"

A very cool taiko drum group on the main stage

Now with flute and hand cymbals!

And that's about all there was to the festival.

Part 3 of the Journey

A view around the entrance to the math department. This is clearly not the MAIN entrance to the campus, but is the secret east gate :).

And that's how I walk to work, THE END.

The trail continues... Journey onto the campus part 2

Lot's more to come. And maybe I'll even type some things, too! Naw, too lazy.

Journey into the Campus, part three of the ongoing series, "Shops around my apartment"

A new way to post videos that will be better quality, I think. Plus I can upload them faster :).

The shops in my neighborhood part 2...

Continuing the saga of shops right near my apartment. The shops immediately to the left of the previously profiled South Seas Kitchen

Some fall colors

First blog post from my apartment with internet access!

Here are some nice pictures I took around campus of the fall colors: Keep in mind this is only a 30 minute walk away from that intersection I posted a video of 2 posts earlier.

Journey into the Narrows Part NONE

I'll just let the videos speak for themselves:

Stores near my apartment, Edition 1

The closest restaurant to my apartment, South Seas Kitchen:

If you can believe it, I go there almost every day. Shibuya is the closest city center to Komaba, so to get anywhere in Tokyo requires going there. It's the busiest intersection in the world for pedestrian traffic, and on the upper left is the busiest STARBUCKS in the world.
I especially like the scooter of doom near the end.

View from the Physics classroom

At least they know how to make classrooms with nice views here. The main grad physics classroom is on the 8th floor, right above my 3rd floor office. The view of Shinjuku is quite nice:

Down below is the school baseball field, where some people were playing:

Could these be the ugliest Sailor Moon Figures ever made? I think so. I found them in the $4 bargain bin (for the complete set) at the Mandarake in Shibuya. Closeups:

Do you know what Yotsuba thinks of them?

Yay!

I'm stuck! Oh!

Nothing of much import this time except a really interesting looking apartment between my place and Shibuya.

Apartment version .90

Here is a video tour of my much nicer looking apartment in its nearly complicated form. The only difference between this and how it looks now is that I ended up switching the position of the dresser and the coffee table and putting the TV on the coffee table, with the computer hidden behind it. That gives more surface area and makes watching the TV from the bed easier :).
