There is much news on apartment finding, etc, but I will save that post for later when I can upload a picture or two. No, today I simply wish you a happy "sports" day, a Japanese public holiday devoted to the atheltic pursuits. It rained all day.
Actually, I took it easy, slept in, and then devoted the bulk of my day wandering the streets of Shibuya, looking for an arcade with a good selection of STG, shooting games, shoot 'em ups, danmaku, whatever you'd like to call them. I eventually found a nice, somewhat seedy, arcade near douganza (pub/bar area northwest of shibuya) that had arcade machines which were only 50 yen! Normally arcades are 100 yen per play in Japan, so this was a welcome change. Definitely going back to this place when I want a little hard core gaming action. I mainly played a new STG from perennial favorite Cave called "muchi muchi pork", which is a pork/plumper themed version of their standard bullet hell game. It was decently fun, although I didn't really manage to figure out the system. I also ate at a kaiten sushi place I looked up where all the plates were only 100 yen! Except they had raised there prices so they were 105 yen.... I kind of pigged out and spent $13 on lunch.
