Bad news: There was a placement exam! Man, I blew it on the essay. I guess not having to write japanese by hand for 2 years makes you a bit rusty... But at least on the multiple choice section I'm pretty sure I did well. We'll see how things go.
At least I'm only shooting for the simplest class they offer (Intermediate 1), which seems to be approximately the level of the 3rd year Japanese course I took in Santa Barbara.
Also, there's a really cool english conversation seminar about the intersection between Japanese pop culture and America that I'd like to go to, and the professor said it would be okay as long as attendance isn't too high. Higher learning, here we go.
